A Tale of Two Dogs
Went to L.A. Came back. Picked up Bonnie at the kennel. She wagged her tail wildly and hopped into the car and whimpered happily -- and then we got home and she started sniffing everything and went all around the house, and I noticed she had gotten pretty thin, and her fur was rougher, her ears hung down more, her eyes were darker, and, well, it wasn’t Bonnie. Doug called the kennel and said, “Do you have another black Lab there?” and they said, “Oh, my God!” and we went back. By now I was pretty nervous, wondering if something had happened to her or if someone had taken her, but fortunately they brought her out and this time we knew her immediately. (And felt pretty stupid that we couldn’t recognize our own dog, but 1) it was dark, 2) a lot of black Labs look alike, 3) she seemed very happy to see us and jumped in the car right away, and 4) for some reason, she had Bonnie’s collar.)
We’ve pretty much decided not to go back to that kennel.

That dog, thinking, "Cool, cool, ride in the car, ball people food people walk sniffy house car ride again YAAAAAY!"
I'm so glad they still had Bonnie and hadn't sent her home with Wrong Dog's people!

They were very apologetic, partly, no doubt, thinking of the terrible Yelp review they were going to get. (We're didn't review them, though.) I'm sure it was an honest mistake, but still, we're not going back.
