News of Bonnie

Bonnie had a lump between the pads of one of her paws, and we took her to the vet to get it removed. Afterward she had to wear a splint to keep the site off the ground, and a cone of shame so she wouldn’t lick it, but two weeks later, when we returned to have the stitches out, the wound looked pink and raw. So we went through the whole thing again, surgery, splint, cone, pills to fight infection, but this time she has to wear the cone and splint for a month, and the cone is bigger.
She has a hard time managing; watching her as she goes around limping and bumping into things can pretty much break your heart. She deals with things that don’t let her pass by pushing on them until they fall down, so we’re constantly running to see what she’s done now. But she isn’t unhappy — she accepts it the way dogs accept most things, just something to deal with, and she keeps on doing what she always did, which is looking for food, mostly.
One more day and we go back to the vet. I’m hoping the splint comes off and she’ll be able to walk normally, though I’m pretty sure we’ll have to keep the cone on for longer.
