1. My story “Annabelle, Annie” is out now in the July/August issue of Asimov’s Science Fiction.  It’s very different from the kind of thing I usually write; for one thing, it’s science fiction and not fantasy.  For another it deals with climate change, a fairly depressing subject.  I don’t think of it as a depressing story, though, more of an “If this goes on…” type — if we don’t do anything, here is the kind of future we can expect.

I actually wrote it before Trump’s election, when things were dire enough.  Sheila Williams at Asimov’s ended up buying it the day after the election, noting just how topical it was.

2. I do so know how to spell “carnival.”  (I spelled it “carnivel” in the title of my last post, and kept it like that until someone pointed the mistake out to me.  Pretty embarrassing, especially since I do a lot of proofreading.)  (Now they both look wrong.  Obviously I need to stop looking at them.)

3. I just read a couple of good books and am eager to tell people about them, but for some reason I haven’t had time for blog posts.  I hope to get some reviews posted within the next week, though.
